Inc Direct Environmental Policy
Statement of Intent
Inc Direct employs a Company Policy to conduct its business with an emphasis on Environmental Care.
The Company have taken a direct approach to caring for the environment by committing to a programme of continual improvement in all areas of its business. We ensure each employee receives training and awareness in 14001 compliance. In our industry, environmental awareness is key, which is one reason why we only ever work on targeted mail accounts.
Our Key Commitments are listed below. We employ an Environmental Management System to ensure our compliance with ISO 14001:2004.
Key commitments:
All waste in all areas is kept to a minimum.
All non confidential waste is recycled.
All confidential waste is securely shredded and recycled.
Consumables bought are recyclable rather than disposable.
All laser printer toner and inkjet cartridges are recycled.
Where possible and feasible, all client visits are attended via public transport.
Company outings or journeys are planned in advance and the most economic routes are taken to avoid fuel wastage.
Employees are encouraged to car pool.
Energy consumption is kept to a minimum through power management features on PC’s, planned workloads and careful use of lighting and environmental controls.Wherever possible we try to ensure that paper used is FSC accredited.

Environmental Responsibilities
There are specific responsibilities for each employee dependent upon department, following are responsibilities which everyone at Inc Direct is accountable for:
Ensuring computer, monitor and local printer power management is in use.
Turning off equipment when not in use – Machinery, PC’s, monitors, lights, heaters etc.
Only printing when necessary and ensuring the print is either selected text or limited to the appropriate number of pages.
Re-using non confidential scrap paper wherever possible – use for notebooks etc.
Recycling all non confidential papers and cardboard.
Being courteous in all respects to our neighbours and the general public by leaving and entering the building quietly and placing litter in bins.
Ensuring all bins are used correctly.
Ensuring water use is kept to a minimum.
Communication and training
Inc Direct know that the first step to maintaining Environmental standards is through the employees. Therefore we ensure that each member of staff receives training in what is required from them in order for the company to meet the required standards.
Energy conservation
Operations shall be carried out to conserve energy, so far as is reasonably practical.
This shall include reducing unnecessary heat loss and unnecessary electricity usage through leaving equipment running or lights burning when not required. Where possible, operations shall be carried out in such a way as to minimise the energy used.
Transport
Where possible, transport operations shall be organised to minimise the number of journeys made by road vehicles and their duration. This shall include avoiding trips with a half-empty vehicle, repeated runs to the same area and runs at peak periods when waiting times with the engine running and acceleration and braking are likely to be greater. Where rail transport is a viable alternative, then this shall be used in preference to road transport. Company vehicles shall be chosen with fuel type and usage as a primary consideration.
Purchasing and raw materials
Within Direct Mail, the client provides paper specifications which we must adhere to; where possible we will try to:
Use paper from a reliable source using wood from renewable sources.
Steer clients towards using eco friendly papers for their products.
Recycle internal waste materials.
Waste
All wastes shall be segregated to maximise the environmental opportunities of subsequent waste treatment or disposal processes.
All wastes shall be removed and processed by licenced waste contractors.
